“Our bodies are telling the stories we have avoided or forgotten how to hear.”

Individual Therapy in Atlanta & Across Georgia

A space to slow down, make meaning, and begin to feel more like yourself again.

There are seasons when life feels heavy, confusing, or quietly exhausting. You may look “high-functioning” on the outside, but inside feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure how you got here. Maybe old stories are resurfacing, relationships feel harder than they should, or you’re carrying pain that hasn’t had much room to breathe.

Individual therapy can be a place to pause—and to be met with care, curiosity, and respect.

At Ashley Albertson Counseling, I offer individual therapy for adults in Atlanta and online throughout Georgia who want more than coping strategies alone. My work is relational, trauma-informed, and deeply attentive to your story—where you’ve been, what you’ve learned to survive, and what you’re longing for now.

Who I Work With

I often work with adults who are navigating:

  • Anxiety, burnout, or emotional exhaustion

  • Trauma, attachment wounds, or difficult past experiences

  • Relationship struggles or patterns that feel hard to change

  • Identity questions, faith shifts, or spiritual tension

  • Life transitions, grief, or a sense of being “stuck”

  • A quiet feeling of disconnection from self or others

Many of my clients are thoughtful, insightful people who feel frustrated that understanding their struggles hasn’t led to the relief they hoped for. Therapy here is not about fixing you—it’s about helping you feel more whole, more grounded, and more alive in your own life.

How Therapy Works Here

My approach to individual therapy is relational and experiential, meaning change happens not just through insight, but through what we notice and experience together in the room.

I draw from:

  • Narrative therapy

  • Modern relational psychodynamic theory

  • Experiential and psychodrama-informed work

  • Trauma-informed care

  • Elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Together, we pay attention to patterns, emotions, and relational dynamics as they show up—gently and at your pace. We work to create enough safety for parts of you that have learned to stay guarded, perform, or stay silent.

If faith or spirituality is important to you, I am open to thoughtfully integrating Christian theology and spiritual reflection into our work, when that feels supportive and aligned with your values.

What You Might Experience Over Time

Therapy is not a quick fix, but many clients begin to notice shifts such as:

  • Feeling more emotionally grounded and less reactive

  • Greater compassion toward yourself

  • A deeper understanding of relational patterns

  • Increased capacity for intimacy, boundaries, and rest

  • A growing sense of coherence and meaning in your story

Healing often unfolds gradually—but it is real, embodied, and lasting.
